The village of Jericoacoara

Jericoacoara, or Jeri for short, is a paradise lost between the splendid sand dunes of the Brazilian state of Ceará and the Atlantic Ocean.

Twenty years ago it was a simple fishing village. Today it is a tourist destination, which combines a good infrastructure with a special charm of wild untouched nature of the National Park. Enormous sand dunes, surrounded by green fields and palms trees, crystal-clear freshwater lakes, endless virgin beaches, blue ocean, fresh wind and hot tropical sun, endless open spaces – all together it gives you a unique feeling of freedom, wilderness, peace and harmony with nature.

The village of Jeri is a very easy and laidback place where you will be able to walk in shorts and flip-flops on its sandy streets at any time of the day. There are plenty of charming souvenir shops, cozy restaurants and bars which serve local and European dishes and of course the famous Brazilian caipirinhas which you can enjoy while listening to the traditional live music at night. There are also a few places to go out at night where you can dance to international hits or the local dance, “forró”.

Climate and seasonality

Jeri is lucky to have 320 sunny days per year, and when you arrive here you are almost certain to enjoy good weather every day. The average daily temperature here is above 30C, but one hardly notices the heat as the breeze blows constantly from the ocean and the nights are fresh.

From August until January Jeri becomes one of the favorite spots for wind- and kite-surfers from all over the world.

There is no winter in Jeri, and only during the three months of March, April and May the daily temperature might drop down to 25C and it might rain nearly every day. However, the tropical showers never last longer than a couple of hours.
